4 days to go!

even though only a few of us seem to check this blog, i feel compelled to write and say just how freaking excited i am to see everyone in 4 days.

most of us are good about emailing, so it's not like we're going to get to the hotel and go "what? sandy's pregnant?!", but being able to babble face-to-face is so much different than babbling through a computer keyboard.

mark (and i, to a lesser extent) is concerned about the possibility of me getting into grad school, us moving, and having no friends wherever we start over. because we're getting close with a lot of bar acquaintances, and we're on the edge of being REAL friends with them, where we'd hang out outside of the bar. and if nothing else, it's comfortable, knowing when we go to friday's, we're going to see people we can chat with, and with whom we have a good time. as much as we like each other, it's not really fun for me and mark to go sit at a bar by ourselves. we've already covered any idle chitchat we could have at that point. you know?

anyway, time to get ready for work. bleck. i'd better hear back from UDel soon, cuz i'm starting to worry about needing a Plan B. see you all soon! yay!

President's Day

I am so excited about our get together, and to know we will see everyone again at Meg's Fabulous Wedding.

I looked up President's Day and this is what I found:

President's Day or Washington's Birthday has been publicly celebrated since before Washington was President.

Its traditions included Birthnight Balls in various regions, speeches and receptions given by prominent public figures, and a lot of revelry in taverns throughout the land.

There seemed to be a few websites devoted to President's Day, including this one that claims to reflect on the holiday from a Christian perspective.

You can take the President's Day quiz. I scored 9 out of 10!

Apparently, there was a President's Day Blizzard in the DC Area in 2003--I was somewhere up North...but, now I can learn all about it, just the same. Here, too!

And, just in case anyone has the itch for coloring.

Or, maybe we should have our little get together be a President's Day Party, will the restaurant decorate?

Ok, that is it for today.

PS. Family Day in Alberta is also celebrated on the third Monday in February.
