My Links for the Day

This is a pretty good desciption of all of the evil coming out of the White House.

I love this online store, it has the best in weird things...like Sushi showercurtains and genius action figures and bacon band-aids.

And this is the kind of dog my mother is going to be getting in about a month (she put down a deposit).

These are just a few links to amuse, enrage, or whatever...I think everyone should share their favorite links too!

help the pets!

so i read my sister's blog (talesfromthepoobox.blogspot.com), and she wrote about how hurricane katrina has left so many pets dead/dying/abandoned. this is what she wrote:

>>>who's saving the puppies and kittens affected by the hurricane? they're starving, dehydrating, drinking the contaminated water, being shot by the "thugs" (why use that term? and who decides that a natural disaster is a good time to go rape and kill?) and what happens to the dead ones? all these news stories have yelping puppies in the background, and godawful things are happening to the pets (tangled in the power lines and electrocuting, etc.), but who's gonna take care of them? it's not like the animal shelters aren't overcrowded anyway, and who knows how long it'll be before their owners have homes again. i don't have the space to have any more, otherwise i'd be volunteering to take some in. there was this awful story about a little boy who's fluffy white dog (snowball) couldn't go w/the family to the shelter. the kid screamed for his dog until he puked. didn't stop them from taking the dog from him though. and people are crying on the news 'cuz they can't take their pets to the shelters with them. <<<

if you go to www.aspca.org, you can donate money to help save the pets. you're all a bunch of fanatical animal lovers, so you all understand that they're family members too. i just donated $100. i hope it helps.

The Sky is Falling

Happy Labor Day weekend to everyone, I think I can't stand it any more...

Why does George W. Bush have so much freaking power? Now that Chief Justice Rehnquist has died, Bush gets to put TWO SUPREME COURT JUSTICES IN THE HIGHEST COURT THAT ALREADY PUT HIM IN THE FREAKING WHITE HOUSE TO BEGIN WITH!!!

And, I can't watch the news without crying already...I cannot believe the destruction...I cannot believe the utter despair and carnage and chaos and anger and how long it took our government to get help to the gulf coast. WHy is it that the Red Cross can be mobilized in hours and Fed. aid didn't get there until Friday or Saturday???

Michael Moore has some interesting stuff on his website. (Sandy THIS LETTER was writtenby the wife of a recruiter who served in Iraq)...

Dana and I move on October 1-2nd. Things have really been falling into place. The apartment complex we live in now (Home Properties) has a complex in Reston. We are able to transfer without any penalty, all we have to come up up with is our first month's rent when we get there on October 2. I haven't seen the apartment or anything, but my mom has seen it and says it is lovely. It is less than a mile from where Dana will be working (Reston Town Center), so she will be able to maintain her "no driving" and still get to work on her bike... I will be working with my mom in a job that will be an incredible hike in title, but basically what I do now.
I am excited that we will be able to do the Amazing Maize Maze this year. And, I know that those that can are getting together on the 10th this month...but y'all will have to do it again some time in October or early November, so better start planning now.

It is a little bizarre to think about moving back to NoVa. I mean, I did leave for a reason. But, maybe you (meaning me) have to leave to want to come back. And, I still don't consider this a permanent forever move, but I think I want to stay in the area for at least five years.

By the way, gas prices near me are at $3.39-$3.89 a gallon for regular unleaded.
